Sculptor Raja Shahriman Raja Aziddin lead the Artist Talk and Walkthrough-Bicara Seniman dan Lawatan Berpandu of his exhibition on Saturday / Sabtu 19.12.2009, 3-5pm. Art enthusiasts and students throng Petronas Gallery to meet the man and discover what lies behind the magnificent works in this exciting exhibition. This event is open to public for FREE!

Genggam…an exhibition with participating artists-Haron Mokhtar, Romli Mahmud, Azman Ismail, Teoh Joo Ngee, Suzlee Ibrahim, Zakaria Sharif, Tan Bee Him, Rosli Zakaria, Rina Abd Shukor, Zainuddin Abidinhazir, Zaim Darulaman, Bennylita Nasution, Yong Look Lam, Yau Lau Fun & Fauziah Yahya. An extended exhibition from the Art Expo Malaysia 2009-showcasing more artworks here at our gallery. The exhibition will run from 9th till 31st December 2009.

“The meaning of a word is its use in the language. I used the analogical approach or the expression in term of metaphors in order to create images related to the psychological effects suffered by victims of violence. In terms of expression, I feel that the use of images drawn from nature is appropriate due to our dependence on nature throughout our lives.”

Y.Bhg. Datuk Syed Ahmad Jamal-National Art Laureate will launch the exhibition on Saturday, 14th November 2009 at 5.30pm.

A solo exhibition by YM Raja Shahriman Aziddin-Rhythm of the 21st Century-Monologues of Raja Shahriman, at Petronas Gallery, KLCC, Kuala Lumpur. From 29th October 2009 till 24th January 2010.
The official launch of the exhibition is on Tuesday, 3rd November 2009 at 3.30pm by YBhg. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Y.Bhg. Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir will launch the exhibition on Saturday, 24th October 2009 at 5.00pm.

A SOLO ART EXHIBITION by Sharifah Zuriah Aljeffri entitled “In Search of Harmony”
(Mencari Ketenangan), 22nd October to 7th November 2009.

Sharifah Zuriah Aljeffri’s (SZA) art in general is a synthesis of Oriental imagery and technique with Western expression and formata. Since her first solo show in 1978, SZA too has been incorporating Chinese and Islamic philosophical undertones into her poetic landscapes, nature images and calligraphic renderings…
… Her endeavour then to blend Eastern and Western influences, to a certain degree, coincided with the emergence of Malay nativist and Islamic revivalist art movement. Invigorated by post-colonial undercurrents, this group of artists advocated a rediscovery of indigenous Malay cultural elements and reaffirmation of Islamicity. It seems quite likely that her search for an aesthetic approach that could address a notion of Oriental roots, if not of Malay idealism, to negate Western-derived modernism and secularism initially steered her towards Chinese art, a genre that reveres both painting and writing…
