Rhythm of the 21st Century-Monologues of Raja Shahriman
Raja Shahriman 6th Solo exhibition-‘Rhythm of the 21st Century-Monologues of Raja Shahriman’, Petronas Gallery, KLCC, Kuala Lumpur. (29th Oct. 2009 to 24th Jan 2010)
Shahriman inspiration are from bullets and war torn pieces of metal. The sculptures are entirely hand-made and hand forged. The creation of the sculptures involved overcoming challenging technicalities and for Shahriman, he describes this series as the most difficult and challenging he has even done. The entire process presents a physical environment of backbreaking & grueling process. This new series is different from the use of scrap metal in his Gerak Tempur series and in the use of metal rods in his Nafas series. The method he uses now further enhanced his capability to create solid sculptures in an almost unlimited form, shape and size. His artworks range from majestic towering figurative pieces to the beautifully crafted abstracts in a dramatic display of form.
