A GROUP ART EXHIBITION-A Sculpture Exhibition, “ILHAM 4”

Pelita Hati has been promoting sculptures since its establishment in 1995. At the time, this 3 dimensional art is produced by only a handful of sculptors such as Ramlah Abdullah and Mad Annuar. Sculptures however were beginning to stir the interest of local art fans. When a young sculptor, Raja Shahriman had his first solo entitled Gerak Tempur at Pelita Hati Gallery in 1996, sculptures suddenly caught an unexpected interest and popularity that went beyond expectation.
Since then Pelita Hati has had numerous exhibitions showing different art forms. In 2007 the gallery held a sculpture exhibition entitled ILHAM to give opportunity for artists to show their sculptural works. This exhibition showed works of six (6) artists Azman Ismail, Mohd Faizal Ramli, Mohd Roslan Ahmad, Romli Mahmud, Siti Zainon (Dr.) & Nizam Abdullah. The sculptures exhibited were made from various media such as wood, metal and ceramics.
The sculpture exhibition ILHAM became an annual event. In 2008 ILHAM II saw the participation of eight (8) artists – Azman Ismail, Azhari Khalip, Romli Mahmud, Mohamad Faizal Ramli, Tan Bee Him, Rosli Zakaria, Mohd Roslan Ahmad & Zainuddin Abindinhazir. The following year the number increased to 22.
In 2010 the ILHAM 4 exhibition promises to be another exciting exhibition. As this exhibition is an open show, ILHAM 4 has not only attracted participants from ILHAM 3 exhibition but will also showcase works by newcomers Wan Zaida, Rahman Aimin & Annasuwandi and a few more. In addition this exhibition will also put forth sculptures made with different experimental media.
The sculpture exhibitions ILHAM held over the years have to a certain extent met our objective to promote local sculptures. It is our hope that ILHAM exhibition will be the gateway to generate the popularity and continuity of sculptural art in Malaysia.
